Robin Family
I've been missing the robin family so much that I decided to replicate them with yarn lol. I've added a hatchling to the nest just for a slight change.

Crocheted amigurumi dolls

materials used: yarn in light orange, dark orange, grey, black, beige, white, dark brown, light brown, baby yellow for the chick, aqua blue for the eggs, multi-colored green for the nest, light and dark green for the leaves; bright orange silk thread for the beaks; fiber fill; copper wires for the feet; craft wires for the wings; 2 pairs of 9mm safety eyes; white felt for the rings around the eyes; plastic canvas for shaping the nest.

The birds are about 6.5" tall, the Mama robin's wing span is about 12", the nest is about 7" in diameter. Free hand, no pattern.

A month ago this little mama robin made a nest above our door and laid three beautiful little blue eggs. I've recorded the growth of the babies from eggs to chicks to flight - an emotional journey full of joy, anticipations and excitement. Yesterday all three chicks fledged and left the nest forever. It was such a bitter-sweet moment. I've made this youtube video in memory of the wonderful times they gave us. Hope you like it.

The last picture of the three together
Eldest sibling fledged about an hour ago! He or she flew off so suddenly and so fast that I couldn't catch the action on camera. (S)he flew to the roof of the house across the street and Daddy bird immediately followed there. The two had a lively conversation on the roof for a while then the fledgling disappeared and I haven't seen him or her since. Daddy bird continues to bring food to the two remaining chicks in the nest. I don't suppose I'll ever see the eldest chick again. At least I know I'll never see all three together again.  Such a bitter-sweet feeling...

3 Robin Chicks
the day before the first fledgling leaves the nest.

All three have fledged and we're left with an empty nest. I've uploaded a youtube video in memory of the joyous times these little chicks and their parents gave us www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6I7cn…  Hope you enjoy it!

Robin Family
Robin parents and three 12-day old (or more precisely, two 13-day olds and one 12-day old) chicks having lunch together. Kind of a nice moment for the family. I do wish I had cleaned the window better. Would've been a great picture if not for the water stains on the glass. oh well.

I'm a self-taught pencil artist. In May 2010 I stumbled upon some brilliant video tutorials on Youtube and decided to try and learn to draw in graphite pencils. A little over a year later I discovered soft pastels. I finished my first pastel drawing in August 2011. Since then I've been busy making drawings in both graphite pencils and pastels. It has been a wonderful experience learning and improving, and letting my skills mature.

I started crocheting in early 2014. It happened by chance: My cat sheds so much that by August 2013 I had collected a box of cat hair. Then I bought a book on how to craft with cat hair and made a couple of finger puppet cats. To make little neck ties for the puppet cats I needed some yarn. So I bought a few skeins of yarn in different colors and since I got them, I figured I might as well put them to use by learning to knit. When I tried to knit my first scarf I needed a crochet hook to pick up dropped stitches. So I got a crochet hook and everything took off from there. It has been super fun making the accessories and amigurumi dolls.

I love your paintings. I am focusing on the sky for my GCSE Art and have used you in my artist research for inspiration as I'm interested in creating work like this.
